This Is The World's Most Expensive Martini

Shaken, not stirred—an American martini with a luxurious twist! If your idea of a perfect martini includes sipping liquid opulence over ice that glistens like jewels, you might be tempted to splurge on the world's most extravagant cocktail. Recently unveiled at Adalina, a high-end Italian restaurant on State Street in Chicago, the Marrow Martini holds the title of the most expensive martini in the world, priced at an astounding $13,000 (around ₹10,90,412). So, what makes this drink so incredibly pricey? The answer lies in its opulent presentation, as it features a stunning 150 diamonds. This isn’t just a cocktail; it’s a piece of art, adorned with brilliant diamonds for an unforgettable experience.

This diamond-studded drink is the result of a collaboration between Adalina and Marrow Fine, a luxury jewellery brand. Conceived by Colin Hofer, and awarded "Sommelier of the Year" by the Michelin Guide, the Marrow Martini merges the worlds of fine dining and fine jewellery into a unique creation. The true centrepiece of this masterpiece is a dazzling 9.00-carat diamond tennis necklace, featuring 150 diamonds set in 14-karat gold. The cocktail itself, a smoky heirloom tomato mezcal martini, is delivered under a mysterious cloche filled with aromatic smoke. Each sip combines earthy garden flavours with Clase Azul Mezcal, a premium Mexican agave-based tequila.

Jillian Sassone, the founder and creative director of Marrow Fine, envisioned the diamond necklace adorning this cocktail as a timeless piece, just like the martini itself. The necklace’s classic design reflects her inspiration from iconic jewellery, particularly the "eternity bracelet," also known as the tennis necklace.

While the Marrow Martini currently ranks as the world’s most expensive cocktail, it joins a select group of opulent drinks. One of its competitors, the Diamonds Are Forever Martini at the Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo, includes a 1-carat diamond nestled at the glass’s bottom. Previously, the Guinness World Record for the priciest cocktail was held by The Winston at Club 23 in Melbourne, a $13,000 blend featuring Croizet’s 1858 Cuvee Leonie cognac—a bottle of which alone is valued at an impressive $160,000.

Whether drawn by the smoky, mezcal-infused flavours or the gleaming diamonds, the Marrow Martini offers a luxurious experience like no other. It’s more than a drink; it’s an artistic, culinary, and visual masterpiece, redefining what it means to indulge in luxury. So, if you find yourself at Adalina in Chicago and feel like splurging, the Marrow Martini is waiting.

With a cocktail that looks so good, who wouldn't want to dive in? And for the experience, it might actually be worth the price tag, only time will tell! If you’re not in the mood to splurge on the diamonds, don’t worry – you can enjoy the cocktail without the necklace for $150, isn't that great news? Fit for royalty, this drink offers an extravagant experience with redefined luxury!

Whether it’s the rich, smoky flavour of the mezcal or the sparkling diamonds that catch your eye, the Marrow Martini offers an experience fit for royalty. It’s more than just a drink – it’s a masterpiece of both taste and design.
