The Digital Edit: FDCI India Couture Week 2020; Here's What You Can Expect

The global pandemic has taken the fashion industry by storm, causing leading international brand world over to re-think the calendar. While brands are moving away from season-based fashion, the prestigious fashion weeks are still continuing with a creative twist.

The latest to join in on the virtual bandwagon are fashion weeks. With digital fashion weeks becoming the IT thing globally, technology is allowing the designer to explore more creative ways to showcase their creations. Shanghai was the first to start on digital platform followed by London fashion week and so on. But India isn't far behind either.

As soon as August dons, we know it's the festive season in India, and nothing says festive vibe better than the India Couture Week. The grandeur of the set is complemented by luxurious Indian couture created by the best style mavericks of the country. With exquisite craftsmanship, the aura of experiencing pure luxury encapsulates us and transports us into a whimsical and dreamy world filled with couture.

This year it's unlike any other, cause India's first-ever digital fashion show is here! India Couture Week 2020 is going digital. The good part? everyone gets to experience the India Couture Week first hand. No VIP passes, no dressing up for couture week, and no extravagant locations. For 2020, the Fashion Design Council of India (FCDI) has joined hands with Hindustan Times to present the first-ever digital version of the India Couture Week scheduled to take place from the 18th-23rd of September.

The FDCI team took to Instagram to announce the digital fashion week, "In keeping with the new reality, the FDCI has taken prompt strides, for a robust digital transformation. This will give an opportunity to designers to reach savvy audiences, and explore interesting ways of showing collections."

Eminent designers from the country including Amit Aggarwal, Anuj Modi, Dolly J, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Gaurav Gupta, Manish Malhotra, JJ Vallaya, Rahul Mishra, Shantanu & Nikhil, Suneet Varma, Reynu Tandon & Kunal Rawal, will be showcasing their creations. The theme for this year is titled, Decoding Couture: skilled crafts intermingle with the complexities of style to create grandeur. Gaurav Gupta will be opening the 5-day long fashion event, and bollywood's favourite designer, Manish Malhotra, will be drawing the hustle-bustle to a close.
