From indulgent Mexican treats to Michelin star experiences here's a round-up of the places to visit in Delhi
After a long break, Delhi's ever-evolving culinary scene in back in full swing. From following norms of social-distancing at bars to open-air settings, now that the city is out and about again, the desire to try a new restaurant or bar is at its peak. However, it doesn't change the fact that COVID-19 safety protocols still need to be followed meticulously.
While some were waiting in anticipation to open doors to their newest address pre-pandemic last year, 2021 has been welcomed with a burst of new restaurants. And we can assure you if you're planning to step out there will be no dearth of new places to visit in Delhi. Whether it's a Michelin star dining experience, a much-awaited Mexican treat, being transported to Singapore's streets or a stunning outdoor ambience in Mehrauli, here's a round-up of some of the best places in town to visit this week - and when it comes to safety, these places ensure it's on the top of their priority list.
1. Kiko-Bā
Earlier last year Michelin star chef Kelvin Cheung opened door to his cocktail bar, Dadel nestled in Basant Lok. Bringing his distinctive and dichotomous culinary flare to New Delhi, Kelvin's concept cocktail bar had an Amazonian flare. Following that, Cheung was all set to open the Asian restaurant Kiko-Bā pre-pandemic. But due to the delay, it was finally in February 2021 that the contemporary Japanese fine dining restaurant Kiko-Bā started welcoming guests and sure enough, was a destination for a buzzing Friday night.
The food at Kiko-bā is all about authentic Japanese inspired Asian flavours with a contemporary twist and a modern presentation. Staying in sync with the way the food is presented, the interiors are contemporary and the well-aired dining area will ensure you feel safe. Owing to the chef's Vegan inclination Spicy Edamame, avocado and tofu are used as key ingredients. To end the night on an indulgent note, enjoy their signature Toffee Pudding, Caramel Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream.
Miss Margarita
We can relate to your love for tacos, burritos and delicious churros. Love Mexican but couldn't find a single spot for sumptuous food in town? We have news for you! If you were heartbroken when Delhi's hub for Mexican food, Ariba closed down a couple of years ago, head to Miss Margarita by Ariba in GK II M-Block market. A tequila bar with the vibe of a fiesta, a Mexican fare and a range of margaritas, this new spot is a must-visit. From sumptuous Pork Belly tacos to Street Style Grilled Chicken and Chilli Bean and their churros with chilli chocolate dipping sauce, it a true Mexican feast.
Swan
There's something magical about an open-air restaurant in Spring and Swan is the new hotspot in South Delhi. This resto-bar is on the radar for every extrovert out there, guaranteeing both a delicious cocktail menu and mouth-watering Italian and Japanese dishes. If you love meat, then don't forget to indulge to your heart's content in their juicy lamb chops. Head out for a fun evening on the weekend to get the pre-covid vibes. Following all protocols, the restaurant allows you to book a table for a specific time slot, making it perfect for where the world is right now.
Mai Bao
If you've been dreaming of a Singaporean treat Mai Bao in DLF Avenue is where you need to be. With a cheerful, youthful and poppy vibe the pastel colour space will transport you to the streets of Singapore for an authentic treat. Must-try's include the Singaporean Chilli Crab, Nasi Goreng, fish balls, soupy Xiao Long Baos and Laksa that bring together the comforting flavours of Singaporean food.
