Share a few tips to keep in mind while decorating a table for Christmas.
Christmas is a time for cheerful family get-togethers and a jovial atmosphere with delicious food. Laying out an exclusively decorated table has many rewards. When it comes to laying the perfect table, take a look at all the necessary elements you have on hand – the dinnerware, serveware, glassware, cutlery, tablecloth, runners, placemat, and napkins, – to decide which of those would be right for the occasion. Next, think about how you can combine them with other tabletop objects like candle stands, vases, votives, and spires, and create a coherent, yet attractive look. You can keep the classic Christmas colours like red, green, white and gold in mind, or simply go for the colours you fancy. To add a luxe look, use mercury glass objects, colourful glassware, silver objects, gold cutlery, and for some freshness add flowers and foliage to the setting. You can either use the flowers as centrepieces or as small wreaths or strewn around the table in an eye-catching manner. To add to the Christmas cheer, you can also use glass jars filled with vibrant Christmas baubles for decor and hang fairy lights over the table for a magical touch. In addition, bring Christmas flavour in the choice of placemats and napkins and small details like napkin rings in Christmas colours make a big difference. Just folding the napkin in the shape of a Christmas tree will add to the mood.
How do you lay the perfect sit-down table for Christmas?
Christmas is an occasion to play the perfect host by channelling one’s style and creativity while laying out a stunning tablescape that exudes a personal touch. When the guests enjoy the uniqueness of the experience you offer, it is very rewarding. You are creating great memories for yourself and others as well.
Laying the table for sit-down dinners is all about following the etiquette of how and where to place the plates, bowls and cutlery, accurately. So make sure the way the placemats, plates, forks and spoons are placed follows the order – spoons and knife on the right and forks on the left. Adding place cards or personalized napkins comes across as a thoughtful gesture. The way the napkin is folded or held together with a ring, adds nuances to the setting. However, keep it simple and non-fussy. Using the items on the table should not become an adventure.
