Have you ever dreamed of stepping into a painting where nature dances in vibrant colours and history whispers from every corner? Rajasthan, the jewel of India, is just that—and so much more. While bustling cities like Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, and Bikaner often take centre stage, the state still holds secrets waiting to be discovered. If your heart skips a beat at the thought of exploring a hidden gem, you’re in for a treat. Just a four-hour drive from Delhi through the new Faridabad highway, or a two-hour drive from Jaipur, lies a slice of paradise you might not have heard of yet— Ananta Resort & Spa Ajabgarh.

Nestled in a quaint locale, Ajabgarh offers a stark contrast to Rajasthan’s often arid and rugged landscapes. Surrounded by mustard fields swaying in the breeze, the majestic Aravalli hills embracing the horizon, and crisp, invigorating air filling your lungs, here, nature doesn’t just surround you—it becomes a part of your being. The setting is almost poetic, framed by the historical Bhangarh Fort, and the wild beauty of the Sariska Tiger Reserve, the resort is set against the backdrop of the majestic Aravali range. With picturesque mustard fields stretching as far as the eye can see, the crisp, fresh air invigorates the senses while the vibrant palette of green, blue, brown, and yellow creates a visual feast for the eyes. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, urging you to pause, breathe, and revel in the sheer beauty of simplicity. Ananta Resort & Spa Ajabgarh is a retreat that feels like it was dreamt up just for those of us seeking a deeper connection to nature.

When you step outside, there’s so much to do! You can explore the fascinating Ajabgarh Fort, go on an adventure in the Sariska Tiger Reserve, find some peace at the lovely Shri Raghunathji Temple, or dive into the local village life and crafts. This destination is all about relaxation and having fun while connecting with the rich culture and heritage of Rajasthan.

An Ode To Nature

The concept however is unique from the extravagance of all other Ananta properties. The resort spans an impressive 30 acres, with 135 thoughtfully designed villas, each paying homage to one of nature’s elements: Land, Water, Earth, and Fire. While the concept is unique, the USP of the property is how its minimal design reconnects you back to nature. The landscape and the architecture are a nod to this, letting you pick your preferred accommodation across Bamboo Villas, Earth Villas, Water Villas and Fire Villas.

From the rustic charm of mud-plastered Earth Villas to the floating elegance of Lagoon Villas, every space is a sensory escape. Fire Villas exude energy with striking cubist designs while Bamboo Villas offer tranquil minimalism amidst tropical greenery. Each villa embodies a distinct personality, embracing nature while indulging in contemporary luxury with raw nature.

The Bamboo Villas feature a visually striking structure resembling a tunnel, making them ideal for couples and toddlers thanks to the mezzanine floor. Eco-friendly practices are thoughtfully integrated into the design, such as bamboo furniture used for the bed's headboard. The Lagoon Villas, inspired by the water element, boast contemporary boxy designs and overlook man-made lagoons, reminiscent of the Maldives in India. These overwater villas feature glass floors that allow guests to admire the beauty of the water below, along with balconies equipped with connected hammocks, just like those found in the Maldives. One of the highlights is the circular Earth Villas with thatched roofs, which are perfect for friends or families travelling together. These two-bedroom villas are interconnected by a private plunge pool, offering guests a chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of the lost kingdom of Rajasthan. Lastly, the Fire Villas, the most numerous, have a design that mimics a bat, featuring four rooms. Two rooms have outdoor balconies, while the other two are on the lower level with seating areas. Spanning 800 square feet, these are the largest accommodations available.

The resort’s overarching aim is to help guests reconnect with nature. Each villa also includes a private lawn, allowing you to wake up in peace, listen to birds chirping happily, or enjoy a cup of tea on your balcony or patio as the sun rises over the Aravali range.

Food For the Soul

A trip to Rajasthan wouldn’t be complete without immersing yourself in its vibrant culture. Food plays a crucial role in Rajasthani culture, and the culinary experiences at Ananta Ajabgarh celebrate this heritage with a modern twist. The resort offers a specially curated Rajasthani Thali experience, featuring local delicacies often accompanied by live folk music and dance performances, creating a vibrant cultural evening under the stars. The evening begins with a bonfire, accompanied by Rajasthani folklore and dance performances in the bamboo lawns, followed by a sumptuous Rajasthani feast. Guests can savour traditional delights, from refreshing lassi to tender laal maas – a slow-cooked meat dish that virtually melts off the bone. Each bite of Ghatte ki Sabzi—a delectable curry made with gram flour dumplings—rich dal, daal baati – baked atta usually dipped in dal – and earthy sangri compels your taste buds to explore further. The experience is elevated by the presence of freshly baked bajre ki roti, lovingly prepared by the local village women, creating a truly authentic culinary connection. To end this gastronomic journey on a sweet note, indulge in the iconic Ghevar, a delightfully intricate dessert that is a true hallmark of Rajasthani cuisine.
