Diipa Khosla on Sustainability, Diversity, and the Evolution of Indé Wild

For Diipa Büller-Khosla, influencing began long before the term became mainstream. With 2.2 million Instagram followers and a global footprint that stretches from the red carpet to her entreprenual jouney with Indé Wild, Diipa has built an empire by weaving together traditional Ayurveda with modern-day approachability her audience craves. Raised in a household where Ayurveda was a way of life, thanks to her mother’s career as an Ayurvedic doctor, Diipa’s early exposure to holistic wellness has come full circle now with Indé Wild, a brand that’s become a favorite from New York to New Delhi. In this candid conversation, she opens up about her brand's philosophy, the future of skincare for melanin-rich skin, and her experiences in advocating for representation within the beauty industry.

Q: Indé Wild celebrates both age-old and modern techniques. What scientific innovations or technologies are you most excited to integrate into Ayurveda in the future?

Diipa Khosla: I’m really interested in blending traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern biotech. This could make our ingredients more effective without losing their natural essence. Ingredients like turmeric and amla, for example, have scientifically proven anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and I see a lot of potential in making these benefits even more potent with modern techniques.

Q: Your products are formulated to meet the needs of melanin-rich skin. Do you see any misconceptions around skincare for deeper skin tones that Inde Wild is working to dispel through its product philosophy?

Diipa Khosla: One of the biggest myths we’ve come across is that deeper skin tones don’t need as much moisture or sun protection, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Indé Wild is working to bust these misconceptions by creating products that prioritize hydration and proper sun care for everyone. Our mission is to ensure melanin-rich skin gets the attention it deserves, with skincare that’s tailored, effective, and inclusive.

Q: Ayurveda has always been rooted in sustainability. How does Indé Wild carry this tradition forward in terms of sourcing ingredients, formulating products, and packaging?

Diipa Khosla: Sustainability is part of Ayurveda’s DNA, and at Indé Wild, we honor that legacy by ensuring our entire process—from sourcing to packaging—is as eco-conscious as possible. We work with ethically sourced ingredients and use eco-friendly packaging, but it goes beyond that. Everything we do is cruelty-free and vegan, which is essential to our commitment to ethical beauty. Sustainability isn’t just a trend for us; it’s a responsibility.

Q: What’s an unconventional or counterintuitive belief you hold about beauty and wellness that others in the industry may not agree with?

Diipa Khosla: I’m a big believer in the idea that less is more, which might surprise some in the industry where more products often seem better. I’ve always felt that a few well-chosen, high-quality products can work wonders, and piling on too much can sometimes do more harm than good. It’s about simplicity, effectiveness, and really understanding your skin’s needs.

Q: You’ve been both a creator and a businesswoman. How do you navigate maintaining your personal brand and voice while running a company with its own identity?

Diipa Khosla: It’s all about authenticity. My personal values are deeply intertwined with Indé Wild's mission, so I’ve never felt the need to compromise. I’ve always believed that staying true to myself, rather than chasing fleeting trends, is what makes both my personal brand and Indé Wild resonate. The key is alignment—between who I am, what I stand for, and what my brand represents.

Q: You’ve been very open about representation and diversity in the beauty world. Are there any moments where you felt that representation still wasn’t enough, even though things seemed to improve?

Diipa Khosla: Yes, there have been times when representation felt more like a checkbox than meaningful inclusion. While it’s wonderful to see more diversity on the surface, I sometimes feel that we’re still at the outskirts of the action, rather than truly influencing it. Representation is about more than just having a seat at the table; it’s about being part of the conversation in a real, impactful way. And that’s the next frontier we need to cross.

Q: In what ways has motherhood changed your approach to both beauty and content creation? Has it shifted your priorities when it comes to your career?

Diipa Khosla: Motherhood has definitely made me more conscious of what I put out into the world. I’ve become more mindful of the products I promote and the messages I send. It’s opened up a more vulnerable, relatable side of me that I think my audience connects with on a deeper level. It’s also shifted my priorities—I’m much more focused on promoting values that resonate with me not just as an influencer but as a mother.

Q: If you had to design a skincare routine for someone with only five minutes to spare each day, what would it include, and what key ingredient would you insist on?

Diipa Khosla: If you’re short on time, I’d recommend sticking to the essentials: a gentle cleanser, a hydrating serum, and a solid sunscreen. And if I had to choose one key ingredient, it would be hyaluronic acid—it’s a game-changer for hydration and gives your skin that quick, plump boost, even on the busiest days.

Q: Is there a beauty or skincare practice that you personally love but haven’t yet incorporated into the Inde Wild range?

Diipa Khosla: Absolutely! I have a few personal favorites that I’m really excited about, and the good news is they’re coming soon. Without giving too much away, let’s just say we’re expanding into some areas that I’ve been passionate about for a long time.

Q: The Dewy Lip treatment is now classified as a cult favorite. Can you walk us through the development process of the Dewy Lip Treatment’s texture—what was the most challenging aspect in perfecting its luxurious, non-sticky feel?

Diipa Khosla: The Dewy Lip Treatment was all about balance. We wanted a texture that felt luxurious and deeply hydrating but without the stickiness that so many lip products have. It was a challenge to blend over 10 active ingredients, including 2% vegan butter and squalane, in a way that delivered both hydration and that coveted glazed, plump look inspired by Desi Ghee. Finding that balance between rich moisture and a lightweight feel was tricky, but I’m thrilled with how it turned out.

Q: Attending the Dior show as the first Indian invitee is a remarkable achievement. How do moments like these shape your sense of accomplishment and fuel your drive both in your personal and professional life?

Diipa Khosla: Being the first Indian to attend the Dior show was an incredibly surreal experience. It was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come, but also of how much further we need to go in terms of true representation. Moments like that fuel my drive to keep pushing for diversity—not just for myself, but for others who deserve to be seen and heard. It’s these experiences that remind me this is only the beginning, and there’s so much more to fight for.

As Diipa continues to be a trailblazer in the beauty industry- her commitment to being her authentic self and using her platform to push Indian culture globally is what sets her apart as a true pioneer. With exciting new launches and continuing to grow as a creator we can’t wait to see what she has in store next. One thing is clear: Diipa is just getting started, and her journey is one to watch closely.
