Criss-Crossed In Love With Lovebirds Summer'22

The Lovebirds Summer'22 Showcase Champions Playful Silhouettes and Vibrant Hues reminiscent of a quintessential Indian Summer.

On 5th March 2020, homegrown label, Lovebirds showcased their Summer 2022 collection with a physical fashion show in New Delhi. Known for their quirky minimalistic aesthetic, the label heroes classic womenswear with a playful twist; and for this collection designer duo, Amrita Khanna and Gursy Singh transported us to a summer extravaganza.

The duo started the label back in 2013, over the years the brand has built its ethos around simple, straight and balanced lines; grids that add more definition and extremely minimal silhouettes with almost no layering at all. Shapes, structures, clean lines, and forms have been an intrinsic part of Lovebirds’ aesthetic and design process. With a flagship store in Chattarpur, Dhan Mill, Delhi, the Lovebirds style exhibits the duos' moods and phases in life.

Staying true to the brand ethos, this summer Lovebirds captured the mood and nostalgia of the quintessential 'Indian Summer’ — from the quiet lazy afternoons, bougainvillaeas in full bloom, to long drives spent admiring sunkissed landscapes, and balmy evenings spent under the Amaltas trees.

Playing with natural sunlight, this summer, they embarked on a creative journey where ripples in the rivers were transformed into a wavy stripe, summer landscapes are handmade with crayons and printed digitally, and pebbles and rocks from the river banks of Himachal are given a graphic twist and an abstract touch to summer flowers. Playful prints, tailored silhouettes, vibrant colours, flowy dresses, co-ord sets and separate in handwoven denims, linens and cottons characterised the collection.

With a focus on abstract designs, the pieces are ideal for the consciously driven, modern independent woman. Adding vibrancy and optimism to the collection is the bright colour scene and some never-seen-before hues and tones in the studio--coral, bright blue, delicate pink, and more.

Being crisscrossed in Lovebirds, the mesh polka dot layer gave simple dresses a fresh upgrade, and experimental tone-on-tone prints brought like to the couture. Adding an edge to the couture was the contrasting outline, checked patterns and polka dots.

Vibrant, fresh, playful and comfortable perfectly describe the summer 2022 showcase. Scroll on for a visual tour of the iconic pieces.
