A Review of All The New Restaurants In Mumbai We Can’t Get Enough Of

Mumbai’s culinary landscape is constantly evolving, with a surge of new restaurants shaping the city's vibrant food scene. As one of India’s most dynamic cities, Mumbai has always been a melting pot of flavors and cultures, and the latest wave of openings captures this energy in exciting new ways. From iconic international names like Armani Cafe, EL&N, and Barcelona’s beloved Brunch and Cake to locally-inspired independent spots, the city is bursting with options for every kind of food lover. These new restaurants in Mumbai not only bring diverse menus to the table but are also redefining the city’s nightlife with stylish interiors, unique concepts, and an emphasis on experience-driven dining.

The Style List team recently explored a few of these much-anticipated venues, immersing themselves in the innovative dishes, distinctive cocktails, and thoughtfully designed spaces that make each new spot worth visiting. Here's a closer look at what these new restaurants in Mumbai have to offer and why they're quickly becoming must-visit destinations.

Brunch and Cake

The much-awaited Brunch & Cake has finally made its Mumbai debut, nestled in the lively neighbourhood of Lower Parel at Raheja Altimus. Hailing from Barcelona, this global sensation offers a taste of 'Grandma’s Goodness' with wholesome, beautifully plated dishes in a thoughtfully designed space. Stepping into Brunch & Cake in Mumbai is like entering a warm, beautifully designed retreat. With soft pastels, warm wood, and textures like woven wicker and rough stone, the space creates a calming yet photo-ready atmosphere. Signature details like surfboards, white shells, and “Grandma” branding add charm, while brass finishes and terrazzo tables bring elegance. The space balances homely warmth with an artistic touch, making it a welcoming escape.

As for the menu, it was a mixed bag. The Berry Bush Mojito was a highlight—refreshing, fruity, and perfectly balanced. The Mango Mojito, however, leaned too close to aamras territory. The avocado toast was visually stunning, but the truffle mushroom croquettes hit the mark—cheesy, earthy, and bursting with truffle flavour. The caramelized citrus and rocket salad offered a unique blend of crème brûlée-topped fruits and a tangy crunch, although it leaned slightly bitter. Moving to mains, the mushroom and truffle pizza was a delightful blend of flavours, with a good hit of spice. The pomodoro and burrata pasta was creamy and well-cooked, though the gochujang flavour felt out of place. Finally, the tiramisu delivered a memorable finish—airy, light, and with just the right amount of boozy richness. It is worth a revisit for the Berry Mojito, croquettes, and the delectable tiramisu.

Brunch & Cake is a refreshing slice of Barcelona in Mumbai, ideal for both a casual bite and an Instagram-worthy meal.

Luv, Andheri West

Luv in Andheri is a love letter to food, family, and artistry, filled with a warmth that’s palpable from the moment you walk in. Founded by brothers Luv and Chef Akash Deshpande, the restaurant captures a soulful energy that sets it apart in the Mumbai dining scene. With cozy interiors adorned with Van Gogh-inspired paintings by Chef Akash himself and an open kitchen concept, it’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate.

Seated at the counter overlooking the kitchen, we began with pillowy gnocchi, blanketed in a rich, creamy sauce that felt like pure comfort. The lamb tacos came next—succulent, perfectly spiced, and layered with flavor. But the standout dish was the gyoza: filled with spiced bok choy and served with a chutney from Chef Akash's hometown, it was a fusion of flavors I’d never tasted before, surprising in the best possible way.

Moving through each course, from a playful take on the Mumbai classic “bun maska” to soba noodles topped with fried chicken, the meal felt like a masterclass in creativity. The non-alcoholic “Rum and Coke” and “Passion for Bidden Fruit” added a delightful, unexpected twist to our drinks lineup. We ended on a high note with a dessert inspired by Starry Night—a beautiful tribute to Van Gogh that was as delicious as it was artful.

Luv isn’t just another restaurant in Andheri. It’s an experience, an invitation to slow down, savor each bite, and feel a part of the story Chef Akash and Luv have so lovingly crafted.

Shelter By Javaphile, Bandra

Shelter by Javaphile’s new Bandra outpost is a breath of fresh air in the buzzing neighbourhood. The moment you step inside, the earthy tones, raw textures, and light wooden furniture envelop you in a sense of calm. Designed around a central tree and woven with natural elements like wicker chairs, bamboo canopies, and a soft, trickling fountain, the ambience feels like the perfect setting to grab coffee with your girlfriends and chat for hours or have a low-key date.

The menu is a celebration of local flavours, with each dish thoughtfully crafted from fresh, sustainably sourced ingredients. I enjoyed their crisp sourdough pizza and pesto pasta, paired with a hazelnut iced latte and a refreshing iced matcha latte— which were all great. The true icing on the cake, however, was the dessert—an indulgent vegan chocolate cake made with dark chocolate and sweetened with palm jaggery. This treat struck the perfect balance of depth and sweetness, showcasing Shelter’s dedication to mindful, high-quality ingredients without compromising on flavour.

With this latest venture, founder Suren Joshi adds yet another feather to his cap, crafting a tranquil retreat where every element—from the interiors to the menu—reflects a poised, meticulous vision.

Sixteen33, Bandra

Sixteen33, Bandra’s latest spot, sits at the corner of 16th and 33rd streets, capturing the vibe of the neighbourhood. This all-day dining space transforms into a stylish cocktail lounge by night, paying tribute to Bandra’s six historic villages—Ranwar, Chimbai, Chuim, Pali, Sherly, and Kantwadi. Designed by Shweta Kaushik of SKID, Sixteen33 mixes vintage charm with a modern look, inspired by locals who wanted a warm, cosy space that feels like the area’s much-loved bars of the past.

Spread across two floors, downstairs offers a welcoming atmosphere with cosy seating and tables that adapt from day to night. On the top floor, the private den offers a more intimate, speakeasy vibe with rich burgundy walls, dim lighting, and a hidden elegance perfect for private gatherings. The contrast between the two levels perfectly captures the duality of Bandra itself — a neighborhood that seamlessly blends the laid-back charm of the community with a flair for the unexpected.

What makes this bar so special is that each cocktail is made to transform and convey a story wrapped with culture and a complete experience. For instance, The Ranwar drink, blends Indrayani rice liqueur, gin, lemon, and a hint of absinthe, served in a clay glass with a crispy rice topping. The Chuim cocktail reflects Chuim’s floral history with white rum, sherry, coconut, and jasmine. Other standouts include the Pali mix, which combines Captain Morgan, citrus, pineapple, and strawberry yoghurt, celebrating Pali’s diverse vibe. There are even creative spins on classic Negronis, like peanut butter whiskey and South Indian filter coffee version.

When it comes to food, the menu designed by Chef Gracian Dsouza,is all about comfort, flavorful dishes that pair perfectly with the inventive drinks.  Highlights include creamy Truffle Mushroom Pâté, tender tenderloin slices, and Cajun-spiced grilled chicken. The 1633 cheesecake stole the show—smooth, rich, and the perfect end to the meal. Other tempting options include bacon-wrapped prawns, miso buffalo stir-fry, eggs benedict with crispy ham, Alfredo pasta, and pork ribs glazed in dark rum, creamy alfredo pasta, and pork ribs glazed with dark rum, juicy corn ribs, crispy okra, smoked cheese pockets, vegetable quesadillas.

Amaru

In the heart of Bandra, Amaru introduces Mumbai to the unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavours. Its interiors combine Japanese minimalism with Peruvian vibrancy, creating a space that feels both refined and inviting. Natural materials like bamboo and wood lend warmth, symbolising Japan’s purity and strength and Peru’s commitment to sustainability. Amaru’s design includes two private cabanas for intimate dining, while a 22-seater communal bar offers a lively setting for connecting over cocktails.

Amaru’s menu celebrates Nikkei cuisine, blending Japanese techniques with Peruvian flavours in dishes such as ceviches, tiraditos, and maki rolls. Each dish reflects a dedication to creativity and quality, with options for all dietary needs, including vegetarian and Jain dishes. Plant-based diners will appreciate the Tofu Steak with Huancaina sauce. For dessert, treats like Tres Leches, Lucuma Ice Cream, and classic churros offer a sweet taste of tradition. The highlights of the evening were the Thai and Nikkei Ceviche, where every bite took us straight to Peru, and the must-try Prawn Anticuchos. The Grilled Steak left us truly satisfied, while the cocktails—Pisco Sour, Red Velvet, Kyoto Silk, and Esta Caliente—were each a hit, making it impossible to choose a favourite.

The drinks at Amaru reflect the restaurant’s innovative spirit. Signature drinks like the Amaru Punch with Pisco and pineapple and the Nikkei Mojito with Soju and mint offer refreshing beginnings.
